About Me
I am a lifelong learner and dedicated educator with a passion for supporting students and fellow educators in their ongoing growth and professional development. I believe deeply in the power of learning within supportive communities, where thoughtful, individualized feedback fosters meaningful improvement.
Background
I have worked in education for over twenty years, serving in a wide range of roles across diverse learning environments. My experience includes positions as a reading teacher, ELA teacher, math teacher, religion teacher, learning specialist, high school placement director, instructional coach, teacher educator, educational researcher, and academic dean.
In addition to my school-based work, I have tutored students in study skills, multiple content areas, college entrance exams (ACT and SAT), and GED preparation. While the majority of my career has been spent in Catholic high school and middle school settings, I have also worked in public high schools, charter schools, college-bound programs, higher education, and alternative high schools.
This breadth of experience has shaped my commitment to student-centered instruction, educator development, and equitable access to high-quality education.
Vision
Better and Beyond Education was founded on the belief that with support, joy, and intentional focus, anyone can experience meaningful growth and move beyond what they once believed was possible. The work of Better and Beyond Education is guided by two core goals: first, to help students, educators, and schools grow and improve through supportive relationships, purposeful effort, and a spirit of joy; and second, to encourage learning that extends beyond the boundaries of traditional schooling, fostering authentic, joyful learning within community.
Services
Tutoring
Academic and test prep tutoring for students in 3rd - 12th grade. Areas of expertise include: math through Algerba; English with a specific focus on developing writing skills; study skills and homework help across all subject aras; SAT, ACT, and HSPT prepartion.
Book Clubs
Adult/Child Book Clubs: Encourage your later elementary or middle school child to read by reading and discussing alongside them. I facilitate book clubs for parents/guardians and their children to explore new ideas and develop a love of reading together.
Educator Book Clubs: Come together with other educators to read and discuss books on education and to think strategically about how to implement new strategies into your classroom.
Educational Coaching and Consultation
Instructional Coaching: My services include working with individual teachers, especially those new to the profession to develop strong practices in instruction, planning, assessment and reflection that lead to meaningful adjustments to meet the needs of their current students.
Schoolwide Teacher Pipeline Inititatives: I work with schools to support them in attracting and maintaing talent. I work with school leaders to develop hiring plans and protocols, teacher evaluation protocols, and tailored professional development plans that meet the needs of your students, teachers, and school.
